Red Wings Almost Traded Superstar Pavel Datsyuk
It is crazy to think this but the Red Wings almost traded Pavel Datsyuk aka "The Magic Man" back in the 2007 season.
An interesting report by NHL Breakers revealed that the Devils and Red Wings almost made a blockbuster trade involving Scott Gomez.
"In 2007, when the Red Wings and Pavel Datsyuk were in contract disputes and struggling to reach an agreement on a new contract, they offered him to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for Scott Gomez, one for one.

Gomez and Datsyuk Trade
This trade sounds wild now but back in 2007 a gomez for Datsyuk was not that bad.
Datsyuk was 28-years-old at the time and had just collected 87 points in 79 games and Gomez was 26-year-old had 60 points in 72 games.
However Lamiorello rejected the deal, datsyuk signed a 7-year deal in Detroit.
Gomez then joined the Rangers for two seasons, then went to Montreal for three more years where he hit his low point in his career.
