The Toronto Maple Leafs were busy since the start of the off-season, and just as things have slightly calmed down, it appears that more moves are on the way.
The Leafs have a very busy few weeks ahead leading into the regular season. GM Brad Treliving still needs to decide if he is going to sign Mitch Marner long-term, or look to trade him away.
Nick Robertson is also another situation hurting the team right now, as he has made it clear he no longer wants to be part of the organization. That could be a huge distraction in October if the Leafs don't figure out a way to trade him immediately.
Disappointing to hear that Nick Robertson has requested a trade from the Leafs. His game definitely has potential: hard shot, some speed and skill. Obviously still a ways to go to round out his game, but I am hopeful
The Leafs have what a lot of experts refer to as "dead weight" on their roster, which is certain players taking away roster spots, which is impeding some of the growth of their younger prospects, which means players like Ryan Reaves, David Kampf and Calle Jarnkrok are all on the chopping block and could be traded away at any moment.
Finally, the team needs a third line center, because there is no way $11 million man John Tavares will be playing only third line minutes, so a shakeup is likely needed there.
"I love playing here."
Another early exit. Another bid for gold. Another delicate contract year. On captain John Tavares and his uncertain future with the Toronto Maple Leafs
Brad Treliving has a ton of work to do over the next few weeks, and this Leafs team could look significantly different than what it does now.
