NHL Faces Backlash for Controversial Racist Social Media Update
It appears that the National Hockey League (NHL) has once again blundered on social media.
On the surface, their Twitter post seemed to be a feel-good story about a German goaltender, but the reality is far from it.
The post in question can be seen below:

At a casual glance, there appears to be no issue with this post. But dig a little deeper, and a significant problem surfaces.
Public Outrage Directed at the NHL
In truth, Greiss has been expelled from the German national team due to his anti-Semitic views.
This fact was confirmed by German sports director Christian Künast who stated:
"Germany has now clearly positioned itself on Thomas Greiss: When asked, sports director Christian Künast said, 'As long as the current sports management is responsible, Thomas Greiss will not be invited.'
The NHL's tweet triggered a public outcry as soon as it was posted, with many expressing their discontent.
This incident underscores the importance of conducting due diligence before issuing public statements. One Twitter user rightly points out that it's never too late to retract the misstep and delete the post.
While this may have just been a simple oversight on the NHL's part, it's still extremely distasteful.
