Stone had undergone two major back operations, and in the best of all possible worlds, he shouldn't have returned to the game. It's still a great story, as he won the Stanley Cup, but the rest of his career is in serious jeopardy.
At least, that's what Elliotte Friedman reports. The insider mentions that Stone remains seriously injured and will be on the injured list for the rest of his career, if he continues to play.
