Ryan Reaves gave a lot of support for fellow Toronto Maple Leaf Jake McCabe ahead of his contract negotiations soon.

Reaves, a seasoned veteran in the league, has seen many talented players come and go.
Despite being in his first year with the Leafs, he regards McCabe, another relatively new addition to Toronto, as potentially his favourite defender in the NHL. Reaves expressed this sentiment to Sportsnet's Luke Fox before Game 7 against the Bruins.
McCabe has undeniably proven his value to the Leafs in the 2023-24 season.
"I was talking about him the other day. He might be my favourite defenceman in the league. He does a little bit of everything. He's got really good poise with the puck and breaks out well. He plays so physical. Blocks shots. He adds a little offence, too. He's kind of like a unicorn in the league — just a guy who does everything really well."
-Reaves on McCabe
With one year remaining on his contract at an affordable $2M, half of which is still being paid by the Chicago Blackhawks, McCabe has consistently demonstrated his commitment and dedication on the ice.
He played with heart and soul, showing his willingness to give everything for his team each night. McCabe has been and will continue to be a warrior for the Toronto Maple Leafs, locking him up as soon as possible will be the best course of action.
Reaves, known for his relentless effort, naturally respects players who share his approach to the game, whether in the regular season or playoffs.
After a standout season with 8 goals, 28 points, and a +20 rating, McCabe has caught the attention of his new head coach, Craig Berube.
Berube, who values a strong work ethic and the right approach to the game, will likely appreciate McCabe's dedication and tenacity.
