Today, fans got their first chance to hear from Craig Berube, the new head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs, during his introductory press conference.

The Maple Leafs and GM Brad Treliving recently hired Berube, and he officially introduced himself to the media, marking the beginning of the Craig Berube era.

Keith Pelley watched the news conference from the front row.
We want to be a North team, we want to be fast, we want to be a heavy team.
However, not all of Berube's responses were as detailed. When asked what it meant to get the job with the Maple Leafs, his answer was brief: "Great franchise, great opportunity."
Brad Treliving also spoke to the media, sharing his thoughts on the new head coach. He highlighted Berube's ability to push players as a key factor in his decision.
This time of year you have to push people and push them into uncomfortable situations. But first, you have to connect with them.
Even Berube's former players on praising the hire.
Knights D Alex Pietrangelo on his former coach Craig Berube and what makes him so great:

«Anytime you have a team that's trying to get over the hump you want someone to keep you accountable and he's going to do just that.»

So that's day one which is always the happiest day for a coach because it all gets harder from here. Now, the real work begins. We will now see what Craig Berube can do on the ice which is likely way he kept his answers short. Talk is cheap, it's results in this market that matter.
