The Washington Capitals' enforcer Tom Wilson was summoned by the NHL's Department of Player Safety after a violent high stick he landed on Toronto Maple Leafs' Noah Gregor.

During last night's game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Washington Capitals, Tom Wilson hit Noah Gregor in the face with his stick.

The NHL just took a major decision concerning that incident.

Tom Wilson will be suspended at least five games for high-sticking Maple Leafs' Noah Gregor in a game as the Department of Player Safety summoned him to a hearing.

A few minutes ago, the DoPS announced that Wilson will have to go to a hearing in person, meaning that he should be suspended five games or more.

"Washington's Tom Wilson has been offered an in-person hearing for high-sticking Toronto's Noah Gregor. Date and time TBD."

More from the insider Elliotte Friedman:

"Opens the possibility Wilson could be suspended longer than 5 games"

Wilson is a repeat offender. He injured many players, with his aggressive and physical style of play.

With a lengthy suspension, we hope that Wilson will learn and stop injuring players.

Updates will follow.
