TSN suggests blockbuster Mitch Marner trade sending him to Montreal

Mitch Marner has been linked to a countless number of trades since the end of the Maple Leafs season. Today a new mock trade from TSN has linked Mitch Marner to Atlantic Division rival Montreal Canadiens.

The Mitch Marner saga is planned to play out this summer. With his contract ending after next season and the souring of the fans on him a trade is expected. A new wild TSN mock trade sends Mitch Marner and a 2025 first-round pick to the Montreal Canadiens for Cole Caufield.





With this trade, the Toronto Maple Leafs would be giving up one of their better playmakers to bring in more goal-scoring in the form of Cole Caufield. While Cole Caufield is a good young player he has yet to hit the 30-goal plateau.

Giving up not only Mitch Marner who has scored 30 goals twice in his career but also a first-round pick seems like a steep price to pay. The Toronto Maple Leafs do seem to be hellbent on making change though after firing head coach Sheldon Keefe earlier today.


If change is all that the Toronto Maple Leafs want a trade to just move off of Mitch Marner could make sense in this case. However, unless the opinion of Mitch Marner has really soured around the league they can likely acquire more than this.
