The Toronto Maple Leafs finally took a step in the Stanley Cup Playoffs a season ago, and now, the team are making moves to finally go all the way in the 2023-24 season.
According to Head Coach Sheldon Keefe, the Leafs have made another big change this summer, and it could come as a surprise to their fans.
On the first day of training camp, Keefe revealed that the team will play William Nylander down the middle to start pre-season, giving them incredible depth alongside Auston Matthews and captain John Tavares.
According to TSN analyst Frankie Corrado however, this will be a short-term move, as he believes this doesn't suit Nylander's game, as he is built to play on the wing.

I don't think it lasts long. Willy is built to play the wing. If you're gonna make this move though, now is the time to do it. Why would you do it in the middle of the season? You give him a little more runway here in training camp. He's gonna be working, getting more reps at the right time when the stakes are a little lower and he'll have a little more runway to see if he can do it but ultimately I just don't see him as a center.
The Leafs are deep in their offensive unit, and whether or not Nylander remains at center or moves back to the wing, they'll look to put their best unit on the ice, and if they can do that, this team will be dangerous all season long.
