Mikael Granlund had one of the worst seasons of his career, but when you consider he scored at over a 0.5-point-per-game pace, that says a lot. At his best, Granlund can be an incredibly useful second-line scorer that any team would love to grab, especially if it's in a cap dump swap such as this one.
Pair Granlund with the likes of Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, William Nylander, or John Tavares, and you could unlock his former scoring prowess.
Whether or not Toronto is willing to eat the extra half a million dollars for this year and his full $5 million for the season after is unknown, but this is a move they should heavily consider.
