The Toronto Maple Leafs have made an official switch, bidding farewell to Hall and Oates' "You Make My Dreams" as their goal song.
When Noah Gregor scored the first goal of the season in Toronto, fans at the Scotiabank Arena heard a Steve Aoki remix of Kid Cudi's 'Pursuit of Happiness.'
The crowd got to hear this new anthem six times during the triumphant game!
After the game, reporters caught up with the players to get their thoughts on the new goal song. Here's what they had to say:
"Tavares on the new goal song: 'We want to hear it a lot, so it sounds good to me.'
He said he was not consulted on it because that's 'not his specialty.'"
"'I don't think that's my specialty. I know when to stay in my lane, I guess,' he said, smiling."
"Auston Matthews said he didn't even remember the goal song changing: 'It didn't even register for me. I'll have to go back and listen.'"
"It's a hell of a song, so I like it." - Mitch Marner
Reporter David Alter also made a comment on the Leafs' choice:
"I'm over 35 and okay with it."
Furthermore, it's worth noting that the Leafs plan to switch up their goal songs throughout the season, so fans can look forward to more musical surprises! Stay tuned for the latest updates.
