As if hockey player superstitions and rituals couldn't get any stranger, the Florida Panthers' head coach, Paul Maurice, just revealed a new one ahead of their potential elimination game against the Boston Bruins tonight. With almost 1800 regular NHL season games under his belt, Maurice has seen it all, and he's here to tell us about one that might make you cringe a bit.

Maurice Reveals Strange Ritual

Starting with the Hartford Whalers, Maurice has been giving orders behind the bench for decades. When asked about any peculiar player rituals he's encountered over the years, Maurice recalled one that he walked in on, which involved keeping the skin moisture-free heading into overtime.

"You walk in, and your whole team's naked because they're taking off their underwear and putting on dry underwear," said Maurice. "Like, that's kind of strange."

Dry underwear may be a positive in most cases, but I can't help but agree with Maurice's assessment.

If you want to hear more about this odd ritual and get ready for the game tonight, check out the full video interview:

Will this ritual lead to a victory for the Panthers, or will they be sent packing by the Bruins? Stay tuned to find out!
