The NHL has finally come to a verdict regarding Florida Panthers forward Sam Bennett, and it doesn't look good for him. Bennett was guilty of crosschecking Leafs forward Michael Bunting last night, and it sounds like the league has heard fans calls for justice.
That's right, no suspension is coming for Sam Bennett, despite Leafs fans desperate pleading to the league and its Department of Player Safety. Instead, the league has fined Bennett the maximum allowable dollar amount allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
The actual amount Bennett will be fined is $5,000, which may seem like a lot for most people. Luckily for Bennett, this amount is likely pocket change. Hopefully for his sake, the Leafs don't try to return the favor in game three.
