Once again, the playoffs have sparked debates about officiating consistency. Players, coaches, and fans all want a reliable standard when it comes to penalty calls. Unfortunately, the refs seem to be struggling to maintain that standard, frequently neglecting to call certain infractions.

In a recent incident, Nathan MacKinnon found himself in an unfavorable light after throwing a tantrum directed at an official.

MacKinnon's Selfish Behavior May Have Cost His Team the Series Win

During the second period, the Avalanche were on the attack when MacKinnon was taken down in what should have been flagged as a tripping penalty.
The officials failed to make the call, and MacKinnon's frustration boiled over. Wasting crucial time, he angrily struck the boards with his stick. As the play quickly shifted to Colorado's end, the Kraken took advantage and scored.
MacKinnon's loss of composure led to a costly goal for his team. Had he managed to keep his emotions in check, the Kraken might not have found the back of the net.
MacKinnon know he must do better and step up his game. The Avalanche will be battling to stay alive in the series tomorrow.
