This comes as a major blow to Gary Bettman, who'd been passionately rallying for the Coyotes to stay in Arizona. Now, all signs are pointing towards a relocation.
Embarrassing Revelation About the Tempe Arena Campaign Shows Why it Failed
Frank Seravalli revealed why the campaign failed:
"The Coyotes side spent less than $250,000 to activate the vote, opting for a bootstrap campaign, while the opposition spent upwards of $2 million, backed by high-powered labor unions who have not received a guarantee that they will be the ones building the project."
The Coyotes' rivals simply put more money on their campaign.
Should the Coyotes wind up on the relocation list, the top contenders to be their new hometown are Quebec City, Sacramento, Houston, and Salt Lake City.
