Auston Matthews isn't the hart-trophy winning player he was last season. Kyle Dubas has now commented on this ‘down season'.

Dubas Shares His Thoughts

Auston Matthews had an exceptional performance in the 2021-22 season, earning both the Rocket Richard trophy and the League MVP title. There was much anticipation for his performance in the current season.

Kyle Dubas has now shared his thoughts on this dip in production:

As everyone knows, he's played through some injuries and things that have hampered him... If this is a down season for him offensively, that's a really good sign in terms of how great a player he is.

Despite Auston Matthews' injuries, he has managed to maintain a point-per-game average, which is often overlooked. However, his injuries may help explain his current performances.

We're hopeful that he will recover and be back in the conversation for the Hart Trophy next season!
