During Thursday night's game between the Flyers and the Senators, seasoned NHL player Derick Brassard sustained a severe injury.

Brassard Experiences a Rough Fall

Brassard seemed to have suffered a serious ankle injury, as his ankle twisted unnaturally while attempting to score. Regrettably, it appears that he might have sustained significant damage.

Watch the replay:

On Saturday, Ottawa Senators insider Bruce Garrioch could not offer any updates on Brassard's condition, but he confirmed that Brassard would not play for the remainder of the season. He also hinted that this injury might bring Brassard's career to an end.

"For 35-year-old Brassard, not only might his season be over, but there's also a possibility that this was the last shift of his National Hockey League career."

It has recently been confirmed that Brassard broke his fibula and has undergone surgery.

Throughout his impressive career, Brassard has played for numerous NHL teams such as the Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche, New York Islanders, Arizona Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers, Edmonton Oilers, and the Ottawa Senators. Having played for so many teams, Brassard has gathered a large fan base, who would be heartbroken if he had to retire prematurely due to this injury. Hopefully, Brassard can recover from this setback and return to the sport he loves.
