Kent Hughes' bold moves
Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens are always an interesting team to keep an eye on at the draft, as he likes to make a big splash. In 2022, Hughes traded Alexander Romanov to the New York Islanders and got the 13th overall pick in return, which he flipped to Chicago for Kirby Dach. Then last year's draft week, he brought in Alex Newhook from the Colorado Avalanche.
Whether they're able to do so through a trade at the draft involving their 5th overall pick or dangling one of their several young defensive prospects, there's no question that Kent Hughes' priority will be a top-six forward who can put the puck in the back of the net. The Canadiens have been linked to a number of forwards around the league in recent weeks and months, including Trevor Zegras of the Anaheim Ducks, who could reignite some chemistry he has with Cole Caufield.
