Reason for Brad Treliving's Departure as Flames GM Revealed by NHL Insider

The Calgary Flames had a disappointing season that ended without them qualifying for the Stanley Cup playoffs. After being knocked out in the second round of last year's playoffs by the Edmonton Oilers, the Flames made several changes. Johnny Gaudreau left for free agency, while Matthew Tkachuk requested a trade along with Sean Monahan.

A Year of Disaster!

To replace the departing players, Flames General Manager Brad Treliving brought in Mackenzie Weegar, Jonathan Huberdeau, and Nazem Kadri. Unfortunately, the team did not gel and had issues with head coach Darryl Sutter. As a result, Treliving stepped down as the team's GM.

Sportsnet's hockey insider, Elliotte Friedman, recently revealed why Treliving decided to leave. According to Friedman, Treliving couldn't work with Sutter anymore and felt that stepping down was the best decision.

Treliving was general manager for nine years and did a marvelous job putting a solid team on the ice every year, his departure will definitely effect the Flames going forward.
