Potential Blockbuster Trade Involving Jesperi Kotkaniemi Suggested
Despite signing him to a long-term extension, it appears the Carolina Hurricanes could be looking to move Jesperi Kotkaniemi in exchange for one of the leagues most explosive players.
A young player on the rise
While Kotkaniemi has been solid for Carolina, scoring 42 points in his first two seasons with the team, the team have lofty goals in mind, and this could come at the expense of a young, talented player.

With a relatively cheap deal that pays him $4.8 million over the next eight years, Kotkaniemi could be a solid get for a young team, and now, he has been linked to the San Jose Sharks in a trade that could clear up space and help the team land
Erik Karlsson.
In a recent trade suggestion, it appears there could be a way for both teams to win, as this is the proposal circulating around:
TO THE SHARKS:
Jesperi Kotkaniemi
Brett PescePicks or prospects
Possible salary retention for Karlsson
TO THE CANES:
Erik Karlsson
Not only would this clear up salary cap space for Carolina, enough to land the reigning Norris Trophy winner, but it gives the Sharks two young players along with future assets, and while many believe a third team may need to become involved, this would be a great move for both teams.
