NHL to Punish Team For Past Illegal Trade

Yesterday, Elliotte Friedman made a major declaration about an illegal trade attempt by the Ottawa Senators last year.

It seems that Gary Bettman and the NHL are constantly after the Senators! Only days after suspending young forward Shane Pinto for half the season, Bettman is back at it and is expected to announce further punishment for a completely different event.

Controversial Trade Comes Back to Haunt the Sens a Year Later?

Evgenii Dadonov was traded from the Ottawa Senators to the Vegas Golden Knights, but it appears the Sens didn't handle things correctly.

"When [Vegas] acquired him from the Ottawa Senators, they were told that Dadonov had not submitted his trade request on time, so if Vegas wanted to move him, they could do whatever they needed to do," revealed Friedman on Hockey Night in Canada.

"That wasn't the case; he had submitted it," added Friedman. "The reason it's relevant now is because, sometime in the next few days, the NHL is going to announce some sort of punishment for the Senators for that situation."

"Sometime, I believe, in the next few days, the NHL will announce some sort of punishment for the Senators for that situation," Friedman said. "I think we're going to get a clear explanation of what happened and why Vegas wasn't at fault."

The NHL is planning to penalize the Senators for their role in the trade that would've sent Dadonov to the Ducks in 2022.

Ottawa didn't submit Dadonov's no-trade list, and the Ducks were on it.

It seems we're finally going to know the ending of that story!
