Heading into the 2024 NHL offseason the Toronto Maple Leafs have multiple high-profile free agents including Tyler Bertuzzi who has now been linked to a pair of original-six teams.

The Toronto Maple Leafs and Brad Treliving have several important decisions to make regarding their roster this offseason. One of those decisions now pertains to the future of forward Tyler Bertuzzi. At the moment Tyler Bertuzzi is expected to test free agency. If he reaches free agency the physical forward has been linked to multiple other original-six teams.

Could Tyler Bertuzzi reunite with the Boston Bruins?

First up is the Boston Bruins who Tyler Bertuzzi of course played for in the past. He had a short stint with the team but was effective in the role they would need him in again in 2024-25.
He could be a type of guy who comes back to Boston depending on the term and value he is looking for. He did like his time here and did perform well.

If the Boston Bruins feel the need to add depth scoring to the middle of their lineup Tyler Bertuzzi could be the guy to make that happen. However, at 29 years old the term of the contract would be a big factor.

Detroit Red Wings swoop back in to pick up Tyler Bertuzzi

The other team mentioned in recent days has been the Detroit Red Wings. Tyler Bertuzzi of course also has a history with the Red Wings playing with them before being traded to the Boston Bruins. A new article from Adam Proteau has suggested Tyler Bertuzzi as exactly what the Detroit Red Wings need.
Bertuzzi's greasy game is exactly what the Red Wings need more of. And, of course, his seven years with the Wings were very good to him.

Detroit has about $29.3 million in cap space, and with the Wings trying desperately to get back into the Stanley Cup playoff picture, Bertuzzi's willingness to bounce around in high-impact areas should be highly appealing.

Tyler Bertuzzi plays a style that works well in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. If the Detroit Red Wings could add him to their lineup it could give them the extra boost they need to be a playoff team. However, much like the Boston Bruins they need to be wary of signing too long of a contract.
As NHL Free Agency approaches a lot of eyes will be on the Toronto Maple Leafs to see what they do with Tyler Bertuzzi and several other high-level free agent pieces.
