REPORT: Two Teams Biding For Phil Kessel
Phil Kessel has been a household name in the NHL for quite some time. Now, the 36-year-old is clearly at the end of his career but he still wants one more shot to keep playing the game.
Two Teams Vying For Kessel
According to NHL insider David Pagnotta, Kessel just might get his wish. Reportedly, there are two unnamed teams that have been in communication with Kessel's camp, indicating that there is still interest in the veteran forward's services.
Kessel has two legitimate options right now that are both contingent on those teams moving out money before bringing him in. My understanding is Kessel is healthy and ready to join a team as soon as a deal can be ironed out. Unfortunately, for him, he has to play the waiting game.

Kessel would almost certainly be signing at or close to league minimum on a one-year deal to join a new team midseason. However, that might just be enough to earn himself a couple more major milestones
Kessel Closing In On New Milestones
The 36-year-old winger may not be the player he once was, but he can still give a coach minutes when called upon. He is just 14 games played away from hitting 1300 in his career and just 8 points away from crossing the 1000 point marker. Both achievements are quite rare and would be just another accomplishment in the long storied career of Phil the Thrill.
Kessel scored 36 points last season with the Vegas Golden Knights as he won his 3rd Stanley Cup. He averaged just under 13 minutes of ice time per game, by far a career low, and had a plus minus of -7. Despite playing every regular season game, he got into just four playoff games, recording two assists.
