Sweedish Court Issued Its Verdict After Horrific Incident In Junior League
A Swedish court has recently made a ruling regarding a horrific incident in Sweden's U20 hockey league. The incident involved an unnamed player attacking another player, Kid Andersson, with his stick, causing serious facial injuries and bleeding. The 19-year-old victim required urgent medical care, including surgery to repair his broken jaw and multiple broken teeth.
Player fined and suspended after violent attack in Swedish league
The court ruled against the opposing player, fining him SEK 66,000 ($6,272 USD) for the attack on Andersson. Although the player was acquitted, the court noted that the attack was not premeditated, but the player acted carelessly in the incident.
Thankfully, Andersson has since returned to playing for his U20 team, Hille/Abyggeby, despite the severity of his injuries. The opposing player received a one-year suspension following the incident, which occurred in January 2022.
