Thatcher Demko's nursing an undisclosed injury, putting him on the Canucks' injury list for the foreseeable future. Despite hopes for a playoff comeback, there's skepticism he'll make it back, even if the Canucks go deep in the postseason. Still, he's sticking with the team on their travels.
During the regular season, Demko's stats were solid: 35 wins, a 2.45 goals-against average, a .918 save percentage, and five shutouts in 51 games with +22 goals saved above expected, second in the league behind likely Vezina winner Conner Hellybuck. Casey DeSmith filled in, posting a 4-5-1 record with a 2.94 GAA and .888 save percentage in 10 games and a -0.4 goals saved above expected.
Backing him up will be Arturs Slivos, who was recalled from the AHL where the Abbotsford Canucks are in the middle of their own Calder Cup run, leading the Colorado Eagles 1-0 in their best-of-three wild-card series. He was 3-0-1 with a 2.47 GAA and a +9.97 goals saved above expected. Tough break for the Canucks, but they'll have to make do without Demko for now.
