The 21-year-old played limited minutes in 33 KHL games and only accumulated 2 points. In the Russian Tier 2 league the VHL he had 2 goals in 4 games played. If he were to come over to North America he likely would get more playing time to further his development.
While this remains one isolated report for now this source has been reliable for news out of Russia in the past. If Andrei Nikonov is determined to come to North America and play he could be worth taking a shot on and developing in the AHL.
