Maple Leafs linked to Shane Wright, could get him for Mitch Marner

The rumors about Mitch Marner possibly leaving the Toronto Maple Leafs has been relentless, especially after their playoff exit. Now, Sportsnet has thrown a major trade proposal into the mix, that could see cornerstone players exchanging jerseys, and it's got everyone talking.

On the surface, it appears the Seattle Kraken would be the big winners in this deal. Yet if Wright can step up as a reliable top six center, especially considering captain John Tavares' uncertain future, it could be a win-win for both teams. Wright had his ups and downs early in his career but showed promise in the AHL before making a splash in the NHL with four goals in the last five games of the season.


For Seattle, acquiring a top-tier talent like Marner would be a game-changer for this group hungry to get back to the postseason. Whether Marner would be open to a move to Seattle is still up in the air, but it's a deal that both teams would definitely consider, if it ever hit the table. It would definitely be something that would give Toronto GM Brad Treliving a lot to think about.
