Toronto Maple Leafs John Tavares sounded pretty upbeat after his first chat with his new head coach Craig Berube.

They delved into the significance of communication, which seems to be a big deal for Berube. Tavares got a good vibe, hearing how Berube thinks there's already a solid foundation in place for the team. Plus, Berube believes he can take things up a notch and help them improve even more. As a player, that's music to Tavares' ears.
"We talked a lot about just how he wants to communicate and the importance of that. (He believes) that there's a lot of good things that we've done and where the team is at. He thinks he can help push us further and help us get better. As a player, that's what you love to hear.
You wonder how with fiery coach brought in by GM Brad Treliving after Sheldon Keefe was let go, how the Maple Leafs will play stylistically next season. If they can play north and fast game instead of east-west hockey, they'll have a better chance to succeed come playoff time. A good example is the presidents-trophy winning New York Rangers who brought in Peter Laviolette for Gerard Gallant, changed their playing style and are now in the Eastern Conference finals.
