Chris MacFalrand, the general manager of the Colorado Avalanche, shared where he stands with Valeri Nichushkin following his 6-months suspension.
In the playoffs, Nichushkin was gaining a lot of fans for his incredible performances. Unfortunately, when he failed a drug test during an intermission, his 10 points in nine games didn't matter anymore.
Not only was the Russian forward suspended six months and joined the Player Assistance Program's phase 3, he completely broke his organization's trust, putting a lot of doubts over his future in Colorado.

In fact, some people even wondered if he had a future in the NHL after that controversial incident.
The General Manager of the Avs, Chris MacFarland, held his end-of-season press conference and he talked about Nichushkin's future.
He revealed that as of now, terminating his contract isn't on the table, that the trust won't be easy to rebuild, and that he could be back with the team after his suspension:
"MacFarland confirms termination of Nichushkin's contract «at this point, is not an option.»
Says rebuilding that trust will be difficult."
"It's very plausible that he will be back with the Avalanche."
Nichushkin has six seasons remaining on his $6,125,000 AAV contract, and it looks like he'll be able to continue playing for the Avs.
Are you surprised that the Colorado Avalanche still want Valeri Nichushkin to be a part of their organization?
