After recently being hired by the New Jersey Devils Sheldon Keefe decided to release a statement regarding his new position as head coach.

Sheldon Keefe was relieved of his duties as head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs just a couple of weeks ago. Now today he is already back on his feet and excited for a new opportunity as he has been hired as the head coach of the New Jersey Devils.
Devils expected to make the Sheldon Keefe hire official tomorrow.
Keefe had a two-year extension kicking in with the Leafs next season but the Devils ripped that up and signed him to a fresh four-year deal (hint, got a raise over what the 2-year extension would have paid).
Since this appointment has been confirmed Sheldon Keefe has now released a statement. In his statement Sheldon Keefe says he believes there is plenty of untapped potential that excites him with the New Jersey Devils.
Sheldon Keefe: «To have the chance to lead this young, dynamic (#NJDevils) team and to see the potential that can still be unlocked is all very attractive for me. After meeting with David, Josh, Tom, and other members of the organization and in talking with my family, this was an opportunity that I couldn't turn down.»
His former team the Toronto Maple Leafs have also moved on since firing him as they hired Craig Berube to be their new head coach.
Hopefully, during this upcoming season, we see plenty of drama between these two Eastern Conference teams that will now have a natural rivalry due to Sheldon Keefe. If they meet in the playoffs that's where the true drama could begin especially amongst Maple Leafs fans.
