Mitch Marner has been missing for the past few weeks, and now an insider has revealed exactly why he hasn't been back on the ice for the Maple Leafs yet.

There's been conflicting reports on the situation coming out of Maple Leafs camp, but now, Insider Darren Dreger has set the record straight, revealing that while the injury was a tough one, the medical staff are holding him back to get back to 100%, and if they needed him desperately, he'd likely be back already.
"I'm getting somewhat conflicting information. But I do think that the Maple Leafs are wise in this approach," Dreger said. "I feel like if there were a playoff spot on the line, of course, he'd be playing Toronto Maple Leafs medical [staff] is running the show here, and Marner will be back when he's ready."
According to medical professionals, a high-ankle sprain is one that can be returned from in as little as three weeks, and with the playoffs still a month away, that gives him plenty of time to get back to 100%. Simply put, Toronto can't win in the playoffs without the duo of Marner and Matthews on the top line, and with their extra depth and talent this season, if he does get healthy, it may be their best chance to break their drought in a long, long time.
