The Toronto Maple Leafs look to be losing a few key forwards this offseason, and they may look to a former fan favorite to make a reunion in free agency.
The Leafs are all but assured to lose Michael Bunting, Ryan O'Reilly, and Alex Kerfoot in Free Agency. Their winger depth is expected to be tested internally.
Matthew Knies and Nick Robertson are expected to make major improvements from inside the organzization.
Bringing Back a Fan Favorite
If either of them are not ready for the next step, the Leafs should look at bringing in former Leafs Connor Brown.
Must read on Daily Hockey Dose
Brown is coming off a season where he tore his ACL and missed all but four games last year.
This means he should come cheap. Contenders like the Leafs are always in need of cheap depth, and Brown fits that bill.
Brown spent the first four years if his career in Toronto before being traded to Ottawa in order to get out of Nikita Zaitsev's cap hit.
Brown scored 43 goals in his four years in Toronto.
In a historically weak free agency class, Brown could be the answer to fill in for the departing forwards.
