Unless a deal is reached, Samsonov's arbitration hearing is set for tomorrow. With his stellar performance helping the Leafs reach the second round of playoffs last season, Samsonov can expect a decent pay bump from his previous $1.8 million dollar deal.
According to Elliot Friedman on NHL Network, the Leafs hope to sign Samsonov to a 1 to 3-year deal. Based on his record last year, a deal like this could be in the range of $4 million dollars.
With Matt Murray's health still in question, and his status on the injured reserve list in the air, it appears the Leafs are focusing their attention on getting Samsonov in net for opening night.
