With the NHL season about the begin, the Maple Leafs, much like their competitors, are putting the finishing touches on their lineup.
With a majority of the preparations complete, Treliving now shifts his focus to securing an extension for William Nylander.

When questioned about William Nylander's future, Treliving was unequivocal in his response.
"Willy is a really important player and a really good player, and we want to get him done, too.
He's told me he wants to be in Toronto. That's the most important thing. If there's a desire on both sides, then you should be able to come to an agreement."

This could suggest that Treliving and Nylander are inclined to settle this matter promptly, with a preference for closure before the season's onset. Yet, Nylander doesn't appear to be in a rush to make it happen.
"I still have one more year left, and that's the place I want to be. There's plenty of time to get something done."
