The Leafs face more hardships
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been forced to face struggle after struggle for quite awhile now, most recently dealing with the future of their current GM, Kyle Dubas, and fumbling in the playoffs.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like it's going to get any better for the Leafs anytime soon after the most recent development regarding their star player, Austin Matthews.
A couple years ago, Matthews suffered a serious wrist injury which did not recover properly and he unfortunately had to undergo surgery to have it heal.
The surgery did turn out well but now it seems that Matthews is going through a very similar situation.

Matthews might need surgery once again
New info revealed by Chris Johnston alleges that Matthews has supposedly been playing through the playoffs with an existing injury that was not being treated and that he might be forced to undergo surgery once again.
This is bad news for the Leafs, as they'll want their star player in top shape for later this year.
