The reports suggest that negotiations between the Toronto Maple Leafs and William Nylander haven't been going smoothly. It has been said that there is a huge gap between what the Leafs are willing to offer and what Nylander has asked for.
However, a new development could change everything.
Aho V.S. Nylander
Sebastian Aho, the Hurricanes' top centerman, has signed an eight-year extension valued at $9.75M AAV.
It is suggested that Nylander won't earn more than Aho, which could be significant for the Maple Leafs. Nylander reportedly asked for something around $10M, but this could mean he'll settle for a lower salary.
"Reports are indicating that Sebastian Aho's contract (8x9.75M) will be the very maximum for William Nylander.
While Nylander has out-performed Aho offensively, it appears he will settle at a number lower than Aho."
