Despite the retirement of long-time captain Patrice Bergeron, the Boston Bruins still find themselves in position for a deep playoff run, and now they've found some more targets to replace their star captain.

A rising young star

Recently, the Bruins have been connected to two players on Canadian teams with Mark Scheifele and Elias Lindholm, but now it appears they could be looking at a more youthful solution to their problem.
According to a source close to the Anaheim Ducks, the Bruins have checked in on both Mason MacTavish and Trevor Zegras, which are two names no one would have connected them too in recent weeks.

Would Anaheim part ways with either?

That source says that the team are more interested in Zegras, and have begun talks with Anaheim about a potential move, and while they more just kicked the tires on MacTavish, he would still be a solid option.
Still, it appears Boston have found their next target, and after a career high 65 points in 81 games a season ago, the pending RFA would be a very interesting option for Boston, but to make it happen, they may need to part way with some significant assets.
