The Penguins have been off to a lack-luster start as they are currently 2-3 and sit 7th in a surprisingly strong Metro division. It is not time to hit the panic button just yet, but one Pens veteran decided to call out his team mates for the lack of execution.
Malkin Calls Out Penguins
After a disappointing loss to the Blues Saturday night, penguins veteran Evgeni Malkin let his frustrations known in a post-game interview. This is what he had to say about the performance.
"Great teams coming up on our schedule. We better start playing better. Playing smarter. Playing harder. Time to regroup. Tonight? No good. This game was just bad. I'm frustrated."

The Penguins made one of the biggest moves of the offseason when they acquired defenseman and reigning Norris trophy winner Erik Karlsson. As such, expectations for the team are high.
Last year was the first time the Penguins missed the playoffs since the 2005-06 season. It could be a sign of things to come for the aging Penguins who were already one of the oldest teams in the league before they added 33-year-old Karlsson to the team. The new 'core' of Crosby, Malkin, Letang, Karlsson, and Rust has an average age of almost 35 years.
