The Philadelphia Flyers are off to a solid start in 2023-24, with John Tortorella leading them to a 4-3-1 record through their first eight games, but it appears that not everyone is on board.

A former first-round pick

Morgan Frost was the Flyers 2017 first-round draft pick, and after taking years to get to the NHL, he played his first full season in 2022-23, tallying an impressive 19 goals and 27 assists for 46 points.
At 24-years of age, he's still got a very bright future in the NHL, but for some reason, it appears that future may not be with the Flyers, as he has been a healthy scratch for the teams past five games.

Dispute with Torts?

Despite this success, it appears the veteran coach has never been sold on the young forward, and now, it wouldn't surprise anyone in the organization if he requested a trade.
"Tortorella's praise of Frost - even when he was playing his best - came off as grudging ... he didn't seem like he was ever fully sold on Frost."

I think at the beginning the Flyers were telling the kid, 'patience, patience, patience.' (But) man it's tough to be patient (when you've been a healthy scratch five straight games)... To see this, you can understand it for a game or two, but not for five in a row.

I do think teams have started kicking around on this, saying 'ok, what's going on here?' ... But as of (now), there's nothing really enticing for them.

As time goes on, it appears his trade value will only diminish, so it makes sense if the Flyers front office start gauging interest from other teams, but at this point, it would be a major surprise if he finishes the season in Philadelphia.
