Florida Panthers have Stanley Cup snatched away from them
Just days after winning the first ever cup in their history, the Florida Panthers had the Stanley Cup removed from their possession.
Despite knowing that they were going to lose some key players in free agency, that didn't stop the Florida Panthers from partying hard with the Stanley Cup, just days after winning it in 7 games against the Edmonton Oilers.
THE MOMENT WE BECAME STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS
Must read on Daily Hockey Dose
The problem occurred just hours into the party. The Stanley Cup was snatched away from the team by Gary Bettman in order to hand it to its keeper, Phil Pritchard, who flew it thousands of miles away to Canada, to have the names of the players etched into the hardware.
Stanley Cup is in Montreal... in the studio of Louise St. Jacques, who since 1989 has been responsible for adding team, player & staff members' names to the priceless trophy. This week, she will add 2023-24 champion @FlaPanthers to hockey's grandest prize
Despite the Cup getting all banged up from being dragged around everywhere by the Panthers' players, it will be returned to them in a few days with their names freshly engraved in it. It will have likely went through a deep scrubbing and polishing as well. Let's hope the players keep it clean!
