With the struggles that the Oilers have had many have questioned the future of the team but today a new report confirms Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid are committed to staying.

The Edmonton Oilers are having a difficult time finding success in the Stanley Cup Finals against the Florida Panthers. Before this season they struggled heavily to even get to the Finals. This has prompted questions about the core similar to questions asked about the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Leon Draisaitl is set to become a free agent next season the same as Mitchell Marner which has caused debate over whether he will re-sign. A new report today from Frank Seravalli has revealed both Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid have no desire to leave.
Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid have reportedly made it clear to the Edmonton Oilers management/owners that they have no intentions of leaving or testing free agency, and want to re-sign long-term in Edmonton. Per, Frank Seravalli.

With that both players are due for a contract in the next couple of years. Luckily extension talks are already underway.

Report confirms the Oilers are in extension talks with Leon Draisaitl

Adding on to the report from Frank Seravalli an Edmonton Oilers reporter named Bob Stauffer has confirmed negotiations are underway between the Oilers and Leon Draisaitl. Bob Stauffer also believes the two sides want a long term deal as opposed to a shorter deal.
According to Bob Stauffer, the Oilers and Draisaitl have already begun extension discussions, and Draisaitl wants to be locked up long-term, not like the Auston Matthews deal in Toronto.

This likely means that regardless of the outcome of the Stanley Cup Finals we will see both Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl linked to the Edmonton Oilers for a long time. The focus then becomes surrounding them with the proper players. The major upgrades will likely come on defense and in goal this summer.
Once more reports and details are confirmed regarding Leon Draisaitl's contract extension we will continue to update this situation in Edmonton.
