Just now, NHL insider Darren Drager announced the new Flames GM.

Craig Conroe has been the Flames AGM for a bit and with ownership feeling he is a safe option for the new GM position, it proves they thought he was crucial in their success in past years.
Conroy also played in the NHL for the Flames during his 1,000+ game career. With this being one of the top options for the Flames, it makes sense to hire from the in house pool.
