Jonathan Toews' struggles with long COVID have been well-documented, and he'll be taking a break from playing in the NHL for the 2023-24 season. However, it seems as if he may already be plotting his comeback.
Last Friday, the longtime Chicago Blackhawks captain announced he wouldn't be formally retiring, but that his health issues would prevent him from playing this season.
If Toews decides to head to Boston when he returns to play next year, the Bruins would make a lot of sense. Having just lost both Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci to retirement, the Bruins will need to reload their centre depth if they want to continue competing with Brad Marchand, Charlie McAvoy and David Pastrnak as their core. Toews, who's won three Stanley Cups, might just be a guy suited for that job.
