This summer, Milan Lucic signed a one-year deal with the Boston Bruins, reuniting with the team that first picked him in the 2006 draft.

In the last few seasons, Lucic played for the Calgary Flames, and he shared some unexpected insights about his experience.

Lucic Reflects on Difficulties in Calgary

Lucic confessed that there were times when he was limited to merely four, five, or six minutes on the ice, which made the game less enjoyable for him.
"It was the exact opposite," Lucic said. "There were games where I was playing four, five, six minutes. You think, ‘This is not what I signed up for. This isn't even fun anymore.'"

Lucic felt lost. He contemplated walking away from the three full seasons that remained on his contract.

It's common for athletes to consider retiring when they no longer find joy in the sport.

Though he was on the brink of retirement, fortune shifted in his favor, leading him back to Boston, where he's happy.
"Grateful is probably the biggest word," said Lucic, discussing his return with his wife, Brittany, and children Valentina, Nikolina, and Milan Jr. "Just being grateful for this opportunity, grateful for this chance."

"Just so I could focus on something new, something fresh," Lucic said. "Because maybe if I had gone back to Boston, it would have been a little harder to deal with. Because that's all I knew. I was used to him being around while I was a Bruin."

Fans are glad to see him back in Boston.
Do you think Lucic will retire after this season?
