Krug Confirms Trade Rumours

Summer chatter hinted that a major trade between the St. Louis Blues and the Philadelphia Flyers was supposed to happen, but one player's decision came in the way.

Torey Krug, whose name kept popping up in the Philly trade talks, made it loud and clear: he's a Blue at heart.

In an interview, Krug mentioned:

"Obviously I chose to stay here (St. Louis). I want to be part of this room and love playing in this city and wearing the Blue Note so it's something I'm very excited about. You don't like hearing things like that. I have kids, I have a family. But I want to be here and wear the Note. I'm here to play hockey. I signed up to be in St. Louis for 7 years and that's what I want to do. When you hear stuff like that, there's more that goes into it than what's on the surfaceat the end of the day, I want to be here."

By turning down the Flyers deal, Krug's made his loyalty crystal clear. He's all in for the Blues. He added:

"I've seen a lot in this game. If you know a bit about my story, you know I'm the kind of guy who's all in, every day. My crew here knows that, and they count on it."

The Trade That Could've Change the Blues and the Flyers

If it had gone through, the proposed trade would've been a big shake-up for both teams:

BLUES receive: D Travis Sanheim and F Kevin Hayes
FLYERS receive: D Torey Krug

But after Krug's move, the Flyers and Blues decided to simplify the trade, sending Hayes to St. Louis for a 6th rounder in 2024.

Krug's locked in for another four years, with an AAV of $6.25 million. He's got a full no-trade clause for two seasons and a modified one for the final years.
