Blockbuster Trade Proposal Would Send Star to Rival Team
With an aging Penguins roster, new GM Kyle Dubas has his work cut out for himself in order to make a positive impact in his first year with the club. This potential trade could do just that.
The proposed trade would be headlined by sending
Travis Konecny to Pittsburgh to play alongside Crosby and Malkin. The full trade would look like the following:

Pittsburgh is in an interesting position right now. With new president Kyle Dubas at the helm, he no doubt wants to make a splash in his first year. However, Crosby and Malkin are getting older, and their ability to produce on their own is decreasing.
A trade like this could not only add depth, but also invigorate the club with some new energy after missing the post season last year.
The benefits for the Penguins are clear. They would gain a young star in Konecny who could immediately jump in with Crosby and Malkin and help produce points for the team. Konecny potted 61 points last year while only playing in 60 games. The Penguins would also receive
Nick Seeler, who would add to their depth defensively.
The Flyers would mainly benefit in the long run, gaining a potential future star in
Samuel Poulin (21st pick in 2019), a first-round pick and two second-round picks. This could provide the Flyers a key foundation for long-term success.
Overall, the trade would allow the Penguins to take advantage of the remaining years with Crosby, Malkin and Letang, in hopes of making one last run at the Cup.
