When it comes to sports in America, it is evident that hockey does not hold the same level of importance as it does in Canada. This sentiment is often downplayed or concealed, but the disparity is noticeable.

This discrepancy can also be observed in the coverage provided by ESPN, a prominent sports network in the United States. In the past, ESPN has received criticism for consistently giving hockey the least priority compared to other sports such as Major League Baseball, the NBA, and the NFL.
Currently, ESPN is facing significant backlash from Ryan Whitney, a well-known figure on the podcast Spittin' Chiclets. Whitney has vehemently expressed his disapproval of ESPN's handling of the Golden Knights vs. Oilers games.

Whitney specifically pointed out the issue of these games starting later or already in progress due to the network's preference for allocating prime TV times to baseball games.

"ESPN Doesn't Give A Flying F#ck About Hockey"

Whitney would come out and spit the truth saying,
ESPN doesn't give a flying f#ck about hockey on ESPN airing the Oilers vs Golden Knights games at 10 pm

He's not the only one as Arizona Coyotes Troy Stecher shared on his Twitter:
"ESPN Missed three goals in the opening three minutes of a elimination game NHL playoff game because we had to finish out a 9-1 MLB blowout."

Unfortunately regardless how much hate ESPN receives they probably won't change their priorities on the NHL as they no doubt make more money off the other sports.
