Leipsic, who was kicked out of the NHL for making misogynistic remarks in a group chat, has spent the last four seasons in the KHL.
The Washington Capitals have placed forward Brendan Leipsic on unconditional waivers for the purpose of contract termination.
The incident also affected his brother Jeremy, who was released from the University of Manitoba men's hockey team due to his involvement in the same group chat.
Jeremy Leipsic, Brendan Leipsic's brother, was in the group chat that was made public yesterday. He's now been released from the University of Manitoba men's hockey team.

The first domino, as they say.
Leipsic's future in professional hockey remains uncertain. His past actions have cast a long shadow, making it highly unlikely that he will ever return to the NHL.
The KHL don't care as much about such controversies. Many players who aren't welcomed in the NHL anymore decide to leave for Russia, where they often end up finishing their career.
Do you think Brendan Leipsic's NHL career is over?
