Blockbuster trade rumor emerges between the Bruins and Hurricanes
With the NHL season nearing an end many teams have an eye on the future and today a new trade rumor involving Bruins goalie Linus Ullmark has emerged.
The Boston Bruins have one of the best goalie tandems in the NHL with Jeremy Swayman and Linus Ullmark. With several other holes on their roster now this seems to be a luxury they cannot afford. The Bruins were rumored to be close to a deal at the trade deadline involving Linus Ullmark that fell through due to the goalie invoking his no-trade clause.
Linus Ullmark on if he's relieved the trade deadline has passed: "Oh, thank God — yes. ... It's tough."

Now as the offseason has begun Linus Ullmark is once again being mentioned in trade rumors. This time NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has connected him to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for Martin Necas.
Friedman said it's unclear if Martin Necas was involved in the discussions. Ullmark is entering the last year of his contract and has been the subject of trade rumors.
Martin Necas will be a restricted free agent and the Carolina Hurricanes are expected to want to move on to a new option at center. The Boston Bruins desperately need depth and talent at the center position. Giving up Linus Ullmark could solve this issue and provide the Hurricanes with a position of need as well.
With new Carolina Hurricanes interim GM Eric Tulsky taking over it will be interesting to see if this speeds up or slows down these potential trade talks. One thing seems to be certain both Linus Ullmark and Martin Necas will likely find themselves on new teams next season.
