In a surprising revelation, he mentioned that Barzal is his favorite player.
"I'm truly amazed by what
Mathew Barzal is doing; I've said it many times. I saw Messier, Lemieux, Lafleur, but this kid is special."
Barzal has carried the Islanders for the past seven seasons. In 420 games, he has scored 362 points.
But he does more than just score. He has the speed and skills of an elite NHL player, and the leadership of a captain.
If he wants to cement his legacy like Messier, Lemieux, or Lafleur did, he'll have to carry his team to the Stanley Cup.
That's what makes a player truly great.
Do you think Barzal will win a Stanley Cup in the next three years?
